Frame 2

A framed, single channel video, 2 channel audio, self-contained generative A/V computer system.

Frame 2 is an exploration of generative music composition and visualization within the guise of an immersive single-channel computer based audio/visual installation. It looks to play with concepts of generative music ephemerality and machine awareness. Through the use of custom built applications, Frame 2 has limited awareness of an individual viewer as they physically move through the music and images. Each segment of the work contains real-time generative compositions that can manipulate the visual aspects of each scene. Each scene unfolds as a different ephemeral experience. This was installed within "Where Do We Stop and They Begin", at the Audain Gallery, Vancouver, BC, June 21-29, 2012.

Frame 1

A framed, single channel video, 2 channel audio self-contained, interactive, generative A/V computer system.

Frame 1 is an immersive audio/visual installation. Using custom a built application and open-source facial recognition software, the piece attempts to skew various angles of visual and aural audience perception. Frame 1 has limited awareness of an individual viewer as they physically move toward the image. A proximity-based barrier exists between the viewer and the framed screen. Once the viewer, if they choose, moves towards and through this barrier they can explore a simulated phenomenon of being immersed within the image. Each of these image environments also contain compositions of sounds or music that reflect an interpreted aural ambience. This was installed within 2012 MFA Spring Show: "Apparitions", at the Audain Gallery, Vancouver, BC
